The Local House in Arnold is relocating this fall

The move will increase the seating capacity as well as the parking spaces for the restaurant

The Local House Restaurant & Bar in Arnold is relocating from its current space at 3946 Jeffco Blvd. to 2236 Michigan Ave., in the former home of 54th Street Scratch Grill & Bar. The restaurant announced the planned move earlier this month with a Facebook post.

The relocation will boost the eatery’s parking lot capacity, with the Michigan Avenue location offering 100 parking spaces, including some spaces dedicated to curbside service. The Local House’s owner Tim Huelskamp said that the new location will also feature a larger interior, and will take the seating from its current capacity of 62 to 112 at the new spot.

“It’s not going to be just a bunch of booths, we’ll have multiple configurations that will allow us to put more tables together so when large parties come in they can all be seated together,” Huelskamp said.

Even though a lot will change inside with the move, the eatery’s food selections will remain the same. The Local House menu includes appetizers, flatbreads, salads and specialty pizzas, as well as sandwiches, wraps and burgers. Additionally, there are elements of Italian cuisine on the menu that include pastas and entrees such as the chicken spiedini, chicken modiga and tutto mare.

The restaurant will also add more local craft beers and ciders to its drink menu, but otherwise, the drink selections, such as the eatery’s cocktail menu, will remain largely unchanged.

Guests can expect the decor to look much the same as it does at the brand’s bistro location in Wildwood, with the new space getting lightened up with some yellow tones on the walls and some new wood-grain flooring that will give it a modern look. There will also be about 25 TVs added throughout the new space, which will give it a sports bar vibe.

“Right now, it looks more like a commercial restaurant, but I’m going to try to make it look as non-commercial as possible. We’re going to open up some of the walls and that will give it a fresher look,” he said.

Huelskamp said the butcher block tables, chairs, booths and bar will all be new. There’s also plans to relocate the bar, which is at the center of the restaurant, and place it against one of the walls. Along with reconfiguring the bar, there are plans to add a collapsable wall near the bar area that will allow the eatery to host private parties or catered events for up to 50 people in that space.

Huelskamp said he’s gotten all the required permits for the work to move the bar, and construction is expected to start this week. Currently, the move is slated to be complete in early fall, and Huelskamp said everything appears to be on track to open the Michigan Avenue location by October or November. The current location will remain operational until the new restaurant opens.
