3 places to celebrate Negroni Week in St. Louis

We love a negroni at Sauce HQ, so we’re naturally pretty stoked for Negroni Week, which takes place from now until Sept. 22 as part of a national fundraiser at thousands of venues across the country with a portion of proceeds benefiting the Slow Food Movement. The cocktail is traditionally made with a 1:1:1 ratio of gin, Campari and vermouth, but the many riffs on them is where things get really interesting. Here are three spots to imbibe around town this week.

Casa Don Alfonso
This Southern Italian eatery inside the Ritz-Carlton in Clayton has a special, limited-edition menu of negronis currently available. From the Malfy Coast, which uses Malfy Blood Orange gin and orange bitters to deliver a bright and orange-forward expression, to the Spanish Conquest with Del Maguey ‘Vida’ Mezcal, Dolin Blanc and Cappelletti Amaro, there are unique takes on negronis here to suit every palate.

The Gin Room
A South Grand mainstay, The Gin Room will offer specialty negronis once it opens for the week on Thursday. And since the crew at The Gin Room is full of
amaro experts, we’re sure they’ll be crafting up some delectable tipples.

Bacaro
You’ll find this Venetian-inspired aperitivo and cicchetti bar, the sister concept to Noto Italian Restaurant, in the same building as Noto, just around back of the main restaurant. Here, they’ll be offering a special menu of negronis, including mini negronis for those who prefer a flight over one larger cocktail. And on Thursday, there will be four different Contratto-centric negronis.

"The traditional Negroni recipe is just a template for the versatility of what this cocktail is capable of. I've created a special menu, inspired by the iconic drink, featuring unique flavor profiles," said beverage manager Travis Shoot. "I'm really stoked to be showcasing the Contratto lineup and all of their extensive flavor profiles. It's going to be a blast showing off their Fernet and Vermouth/bitter portfolio and using them to create different versions of the Negroni."
