Atomic by Jamo will open in former Atomic Cowboy space in the Grove this fall

Now in its 11th year of operations, local concert promoter Jamo Presents is bringing new life to the former home of Atomic Cowboy with Atomic by Jamo, which is slated to open at 4140 Manchester Ave. in the Grove neighborhood of St. Louis in fall 2024. In 2022, plans were made public to revive The Ready Room in that space, but it never came to fruition.

The multi-room entertainment complex will continue on the legacy of Atomic Cowboy, which shuttered in 2020, by hosting both local and national live music acts between two event spaces: the beloved outdoor Atomic Pavilion, as well as the indoor music venue – formerly known as The Bootleg at Atomic Cowboy and now billed simply as Atomic – both of which will utilize state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems. There will also be a cocktail bar and restaurant, along with a nightclub area called the Atomic Lounge. The new and improved space will be familiar with the industrial vibes Atomic Cowboy was known for, but the Jamo team will elevate the venue with touches of mid-century modern style. In total, the complex will be able to hold 1,000 guests; however, the ability to host block parties will expand that capacity significantly.

Jamo Presents founder Drew Jameson worked for Atomic Cowboy from 2015 to 2020. “It feels great to be back at 4140 Manchester,” said Jameson, who will act as managing partner for the new concept. “The neighborhood is very special to me and to the city of St. Louis, and I can’t think of a better location to open Jamo Presents’ first brick-and-mortar venue. It’s been a challenging building to wrangle, but we’re in a great spot. We’ve created a beautiful design with a smart layout and I can’t wait to see it in action.”

Atomic by Jamo co-owner and general manager Randi Kranz, a former Sauce Ones to Watch honoree, will spearhead the beverage program, which will offer unique, elevated cocktails, in addition to classic cocktails and a range of beers.

Details for the restaurant are still in the works as the ownership team seeks the ideal partner for their new venture, but they plan to have a robust food program. In the meantime, local food trucks and vendors will host pop-ups on-site during concerts and other big event days at the complex.

Trent Dickerson, a local indie rocker, will act as marketing and programming director.

Atomic by Jamo will be open Wednesday through Sunday and closed Tuesday, unless a concert falls on a Tuesday. When there are no concerts, guests can still grab a bite and a drink on the patio.
