The Vine Café on South Grand will launch Vine and Dash food truck in April

The Vine Café, a Mediterranean restaurant at 3171 S. Grand Blvd. in St. Louis, will soon launch a food truck called Vine and Dash. The Vine has been a mainstay in Tower Grove for the last decade, known especially for its freshly baked pita, juice offerings and shawarma.

Co-owned by cousins Abdallah and Mohammed Mohsen, the food truck is an extension of The Vine and will offer a fusion of Mediterranean, American and Mexican cuisines. “A lot of the base recipes as far as the seasoning and spices will all be the same [as at The Vine],” Mohammed explained. “But we just really play around with the idea of how the food could be presented, what flavor profiles we could add or take away and then how do we make it something that’s more appealing to a broader American audience.”

Vine and Dash’s menu will include the likes of falafel, shawarma (including specialty items like shawarma queso and the Beirut Burrito), fattoush salad and french fries. They’ll also offer fresh juices similar to what’s available at The Vine.

On April 8 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Vine and Dash will have a soft launch at Lamiaa Botanicals, where both flowers and food will be available for purchase. From there, they’re planning to be present at various farmers markets and outdoor events in the city but are still building the full schedule.

The owners aim to be not only a food truck but also a part of the community. “We really want to figure out a way to establish a more holistic economy approach where we’re giving back to the city,” Mohammed shared. They hope to partner with nonprofits and get feedback from their customers about where they want their money to go.
