5 St. Louis restaurants to get carryout from for Cinco de Mayo

Few occasions bring more community festivities and culinary delights than Cinco de Mayo, a holiday that has, traditionally, moved people from all corners of St. Louis to visit their favorite neighborhood Mexican restaurants. But with the Cherokee Cinco de Mayo festival canceled and dining rooms closed, what are we to do?

Thankfully, these spots are still open for carryout and have got all your desires covered.

Deep South Grand joint Chimichanga’s is one of the most slept-on spots in South City. Its ultra-satisfying classic Mexican food is worth the trek, regardless of where you’re coming from. 314.352.0202

La Tejana Taqueria is undoubtedly one of the reigning Mexican spots in the Greater St. Louis area. Everything we’ve had there has been amazing, but we especially recommend the chorizo or al pastor tacos or anything with their mole. 314.291.8500

Nothing can keep us away from Alta Calle, one of our favorite restaurants of 2019. The shrimp tacos are a must. 314.282.0840

How can we leave off Cali-inspired Mexican chain Mission Taco Joint? After all, if not for them, carryout margaritas may not be happening at all today. Celebrate with some of their juice.

Low-key Rock Hill staple Nachomama’s has been around forever. Don’t miss their Tex-Mex platters or quesadillas. 314.961.9110
