Ellen Knoernschild’s German Apple Nut Cake
2 cups sugar
1 cup cooking oil
2 cups chopped apples
1 cup chopped nuts
2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
½ tsp. allspice
• Mix sugar, oil, eggs, apples and nuts in a large bowl.
• Sift flour, together with the remaining ingredients, into the bowl.
• Spread in a greased and floured 9-by-13-inch pan. Bake at 350
