Taste of Black St. Louis returns to downtown this weekend

The free event features over 100 vendors

Soldier's Memorial Plaza in downtown St. Louis will once again play host to Taste of Black St. Louis, now in its sixth year. The event takes place from Friday, Sept. 13, to Sunday, Sept. 15, with hours from noon to 9 p.m. each day, in front of Soldier's Memorial Plaza at Poelker Park & Kaufmann Park in downtown St. Louis.

"The upcoming Taste of Black St. Louis, which is hosted downtown, brings so many people together to celebrate our culture,” said Mayor Tishaura Jones in a statement. “This is one of the things St. Louis does best as a city!"

Perhaps the most anticipated vendor slated to attend is Slutty Vegan, which launched in Atlanta in 2018 and quickly rose to boast national fandom. Over 100 other vendors will also be there, both from St. Louis and other major cities across the country, although the specific lineup has not been announced. Attendees can expect food, drink and artisan vendors, among others. There will also be live music, but that schedule has not been announced either. Organizers of the event told Sauce they would share these details soon, so we’ll update this story if we hear back. A portion of the proceeds from the event will help provide scholarships to local high school seniors aspiring to pursue careers in the Culinary Arts.
