Celebrate Friday the 13th at Witch Please! in St. Louis

Work & Leisure in Midtown hosts this spooky, women-centered event

Spooky season might not normally start until at least October, but when Friday the 13th falls in September, we might as well embrace the vibes sooner than later. To help kick off Halloween season in style, the inaugural Witch Please! event takes place from 6 to 10 p.m. at Work & Leisure at 3015 Locust St. in Midtown on Friday, Sept. 13.

This women-centered event will feature food crafted by chef Liz Schuster of Tenacious Eats. There will also be a diverse lineup of women-led vendors, along with offerings from tattoo artists at Saint Studios Salon & Gallery. DJ Maxxa will be spinning some beats throughout the party, which includes games and activities like black cat adoptions, voter registration, tarot card readings, palm readings and more. There’s even a FeteBooth photo booth so you can capture memories of your fun night out.

You’ll also be able to grab a great craft cocktail made by Raven Weinrich, beverage and events director for Work & Leisure. “Several years ago, I began exploring the world of crafted cocktails and quickly fell in love with creating something fun and delicious – perfect for someone like me who doesn't drink much but wants every sip to be as satisfying as a great meal. While I've always loved being in the kitchen, I never wanted to work in one. Crafting complex, layered flavor profiles in cocktails became the perfect outlet to scratch that culinary itch,” she said.

Weinrich explained how she came to work with Tenacious Eats for this event. “My favorite collaborator by far has been chef Elizabeth Schuster of Tenacious Eats. Chef Liz not only inspired me but also encouraged me to pursue my passion. Together, we envisioned an event that was about more than just drinking; it was about uplifting and encouraging the incredible women in our lives to chase their dreams. That's how the idea for an all-women's food and vendor market was born,” she said.

The women vendors slated to attend are the heart of St. Louis, according to Weinrich. “Every woman invited to join our market is extraordinary and local, showcasing everything from voter registration to cat adoptions, baked goods, clothing, tattoos and more,” she said. “Every event I host highlights a native St. Louisan and gives back to the community. This event, in particular, will spotlight over a dozen of our most talented St. Louis women and raise funds for Stray Rescue through our social channels. I wouldn't be where I am today without chef Liz believing in me, and I'm thrilled to pay that forward by supporting other women in our community."
