9 places to celebrate National Ice Cream Day in St. Louis

We might have President Ronald Regan and Kentucky Senator Walter Dee and Texas Representative Kika de la Garza’s joint resolution 298 for naming July as National Ice Cream Month and July 15 as National Ice Cream Day (This year, we’re celebrating on Sunday, July 21).

But, come on, we in St. Louis would have known July was ice cream month anyway. It’s hot and humid as nothing else and the only remedy is a delicious, cold scoop. Or a trip to the beach. But the following nine places are a lot easier to travel to.

Bombay Food Junkies
Don’t consume dairy products? No problem at Bombay Food Junkies. The vegan restaurant is holding an ice cream social that will include milkshakes, Oatly ice cream, ice cream topping smorgasbord and the full food menu from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Clementine’s Naughty & Nice Ice Cream at the Missouri History Museum
Clementine’s and the Missouri History Museum are collaborating for a historic National Ice Cream Day. In honor of the 120th anniversary of the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis, the creamery will be at the history museum from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and giving out 120 free scoops of themed ice cream and 50 T-shirts commemorating both events.

Beginning at noon, all Clementine’s locations will be serving a line of ice creams themed around the World Fair and the first 50 guests will get National Ice Cream Day T-shirts. The flavors include Banana Split, Meet Me in St. Louis, Louis, Vegan Waffle Cone-a-Copia, and Fairy Floss. Each has a historic backstory that you can read more about on the Sauce website

A portion of proceeds from the Meet Me in St. Louis pint flavor will be donated to the History Museum.

Eckert’s Farm
Visitors at Eckert’s Belleville location can swing by Mr. E’s Cider Donut & Custard Shop for a buy one get one special on small peach sundaes. The deal lasts as long as the supplies during business hours of 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Ices Plain & Fancy
This Shaw area creamery is not only celebrating the national holiday but linking it to its 10th year in existence. The 10th Anniversary Street Party runs from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, and includes music from STL Rock School and Po Mia, food trucks (Balkan Treat Box, Farmtruk and Rock Star Tacos), a balloon artist, face painting, games and other kids’ activities. Then there’s the ice cream. In addition to the shop’s standard array of nitro ice creams, it will serve a birthday cake flavor – while supplies last! If that isn’t an incentive to head out early, we don’t know what is.
