Have you ever wanted to meet an internationally renowned chef? Your chance will soon be here as chef Tanya Holland has teamed up with River City Casino for a family-style brunch on Sunday, June 30, complete with a meet-and-greet with the lauded chef. The seasonally inspired brunch experience will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the covered, outdoor event space across from the casino’s Beerhouse at 777 River City Casino Blvd. in St. Louis.

Specializing in modern soul and comfort foods, Holland has garnered numerous accolades over the course of her 40-year hospitality career, during which time she’s worked every aspect of the business. She was on season 15 of Top Chef, and is currently the host of Oprah Winfrey Network show Tanya's Kitchen Table, as well as her own podcast called Tanya's Table. In addition, she holds a Grande Diplôme from La Varenne Ecole de Cuisine, and has served as the president of the San Francisco chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier.  She is also the executive chef of Town Fare in Oakland, as well as the chef-owner of her own brunch-focused restaurant Brown Sugar Kitchen, also in Oakland. The menu at the event on June 30 “represents the greatest hits” at Brown Sugar Kitchen, according to Holland, including items such as decadent buttermilk fried chicken and waffles, savory shrimp and grits, and popular veggie scramble with sweet potato hash, plus plenty of sides. Attendees will even receive a delicious dessert to take home. The brunch also includes unlimited soft drinks and access to a full bar, as well as a featured specialty cocktail selected by Holland herself.

Holland hasn’t been to St. Louis since 2011, so she’s “looking forward to returning and exploring more,” she said. “Everything I saw and ate before was amazing.” As for the meet-and-greets that will take place, she said, “That's in my lane. I enjoy it very much.”
