Honeymoon Chocolates in Clayton will close its doors at the end of October
After less than two years in business at its current location, Honeymoon Chocolates has announced it plans to close its storefront at 16 N. Central Ave. in Clayton on Sunday, Oct. 29. The announcement was made through a press release put out by the business, and it further stated that the chocolate company will move its manufacturing to an off-site space in Chesterfield in order to boost inventory for the upcoming holiday season.
“We want to thank the St. Louis community for their support, but we’re shifting our focus to wholesale and manufacturing at this time,” Cam Loyet said in a phone conversation with Sauce. Loyet went on to say that he hopes to reopen a brick-and-mortar in a couple of years, after the company has gained stronger footing in the wholesale space.
The company was founded in a college dorm room in 2016 by Cam and Haley Loyet and, from there, they opened their first brick-and-mortar at the Clayton location in late 2021. The 2,500-square-foot space has served as both the storefront and factory where the Loyets make the craft chocolate that is sweetened only with raw honey.
Although the Clayton location will close at the end of the month, you will still be able to find Honeymoon Chocolates at numerous St. Louis retailers, including Fresh Thyme, Whole Foods, The Annex Coffee and Foods, Winslow’s Table and SqWires.
While you’re still able to stop by the Clayton store, the hours are 2 to 8 p.m. from Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. It’s closed on Tuesday.
