Now that the heat wave of summer has passed, the leaves are turning and the weather is cooling, but it’s still warm enough to enjoy another patio season this year.

Westport Social
This West County patio features an outdoor firepit and fountain with lounge and tabletop seating surrounded by the vibrant nightlife of Westport Plaza. Grab a craft cocktail or beer and a bite to eat from the menu of small plates including brisket nachos, wings and more. There’s cornhole and washers available to play outside, as well as 3 TVs. There’s also free live music every Friday and Saturday night 8 p.m. to midnight. During the month of October, stop by for the Numbskull pop-up featuring creepy Halloween cocktails and spooky vibes.

Broadway Oyster Bar
The little slice of New Orleans in downtown St. Louis offers covered outdoor dining as needed, as well as enclosed patio space on each side of the building when the weather gets colder. A new beer garden has opened for weekend use, and air conditioning has been installed on the north patio, while there’s a new retractable roof over the heated south patio. Its massive menu of Cajun-inspired cuisine has led it to be named the Best Cajun/Creole food in the city by Sauce readers many years in a row. It’s also an iconic nightlife destination with live music seven nights a week.

Cinder House
Fall dining on the patio of Cinder House offers all the season's best flavors to sip and dine on, along with the impressive views of the Gateway Arch and city skyline. There are heaters tucked in the awning above the tables, and guests can borrow cozy wraps, which the restaurant keeps on hand to ensure comfortable dining. Try several new seasonal menu items, including steak tartar, grilled octopus, a beet and fig salad, scallops, roasted celery root soup, mango cheesecake and dulce mousse. New cocktails include a pisco-based Peruvian Sunset, a St. Louis Sour, and Legends of the Fall, a cognac- and rye-based cocktail with green chartreuse, Aperol, lime, pomegranate and bitters. After dinner, guests can head over to the al fresco Cinder Bar and enjoy a cocktail on the lounge seating placed around the roaring fire pit.

Narwhal’s Crafted
Both Narwhal’s Crafted locations have beautifully lush heated and covered patios to sit and enjoy their delectable frozen treats. The Midtown patio is a real hidden gem as it’s tucked away from the street and features two water walls, two firepits and two TVs. It does not offer food, but guests are welcome to bring their own food. The St. Charles location also has a firepit and some TVs for your viewing pleasure, as well as sister concept Loaded Nachos to help keep the munchies at bay.

Riccardo’s on Broadway
If you’ve missed Ricardo’s Italian Cafe since it closed in Lafayette Square nearly a decade ago, you’ll be pleased to know it’s been reborn as Riccardo’s on Broadway in a historic building just north of downtown St. Louis and offers original 1989 Ricardo’s menu items. This family-owned and -operated restaurant is proud to feature chef Tim Adams, who was trained through the Italian Culinary Academy in Manhattan. The beautiful, partially enclosed patio almost feels like you’re indoors as its situated between two building and includes heaters in colder weather. There’s plenty of free and secure parking in a large lot behind the building.

Robust Bistro & Wine Bar
Robust Bistro & Wine Bar features a lovely, dog-friendly patio right in the heart of Webster Groves. The spacious, plant-filled area seats 70 and is offset from the sidewalk facing the street. There are plenty of umbrellas to shade you from the sun, as well as heaters for those chilly evenings. Seating includes mainly four-tops, but larger parties can easily be accommodated. Patio seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Live music is performed from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Robust is open noon to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and open till 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Sal Y Limon Mexican Grille
This sister restaurant to Padrinos Mexican Restaurant in South City is located in the former Houlihan’s space in Brentwood. Sal Y Limon offers casual Mexican dining centered around family, friends and food. The spacious patio has a lovely fire feature and is great for large parties, as well as being rentable for private functions. Private events are fully customizable and can accommodate up to 300 people indoors or outdoors. Sal Y Limon is proud to offer one of the largest lists of margaritas in town, boasting sizes all the way up to a margarita tower with tequila choices including everything from blancos to extra añejos and several mezcals.

Square One Brewery
Square One Brewery’s patio is a Lafayette Square favorite. It’s a great spot to relax with a few beers for lunch, dinner, happy hour or weekend brunch and is even dog friendly. The main feature on the patio is the fountain, which was created from reclaimed architecture by the late Bob Cassily, who previously owned the building. There are several of his other features throughout the building: The decorative wood above the front windows in the bar, the chandeliers in the dining room and leaded glass window behind the bar, all came from St. Patrick’s Church, which was closed in the 1970s. When the weather turns colder, a portion of the patio is closed off and heated to ensure maximum guest comfort. Stop by for lunch or dinner and enjoy one of the fall beers on tap: American Red Ale, Oktoberfest and Spiced Pumpkin Ale.

Edera Italian Eatery
Edera Italian Eatery features one of the most stunning patios in the city: a massive ivy-covered wall flanks the back side of the lush courtyard, which is tucked away from the street in the Central West End. Reservations specifically for courtyard seating are not available as it’s weather dependent; however, people with reservations get priority for courtyard seating. The courtyard also hosts a night market twice a year, so keep an eye on Edera’s social media for details. Edera is open 5 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
