Gioia’s Deli is opening a location in Valley Park in late spring 2023

Gioia’s Deli is heading west. The St. Louis sandwich institution announced via social media that it will be opening a new location, this one in the Pointe 44 shopping center at 922 Meramec Station Road in Valley Park, near the intersection of I-44 and Highway 141. This is in addition to the original shop at 1934 Macklind Ave. on the Hill in St. Louis, and sister locations at 623 N. New Ballas Road in Creve Coeur, and 11855 Adie Road in Maryland Heights. The new spot is expected to open sometime in late spring.

The fourth Gioia’s won’t be deviating from the formula that has made the restaurant a St. Louis institution. Alex Donley, who owns Gioia’s with his wife, Amanda, said in an email that the menu will include all of the favorites, including the vanguard hot salami sandwich. Donley said the space, which used to house a Jimmy John’s location, will have 20 to 24 seats and patio seating sometime in the future, though not initially.

“We love going into new communities,” Donley said. “This area reminds us a lot of our Creve Coeur location. Valley Park and this location were specifically appealing because of the easy highway access, the large parking lot and the fact that the space was a chain sandwich shop previously.”

Donley said he feels there’s a strong demand for local products in the area.

“We have been looking for a location on the 44 corridor for about three years now,” Donley said.  “We take polls of our customers and Fenton/Valley Park are always in the top areas requested.”
