J. Devoti Trattoria on the Hill will close in March
J. Devoti Trattoria will have its last dinner service on March 31 after nearly five years in business. Owner and executive chef Anthony Devoti first opened Five Bistro in 2006 then rebranded the space in 2018 as J. Devoti Trattoria, a farm-to-table Italian restaurant. Both restaurants operated out of 5100 Daggett Ave. on the Hill.
While he still plans to do occasional catering, Devoti is pivoting to woodworking, which he described in a statement as “a different, but unbelievably similar craft, with the same attention to detail, the ability to procure local product, and the chance to fulfill the desire to create for clientele that has come to expect a level of professionalism and beauty that I can create with my hands.” He is also eager to have more time with his family.
In a statement, Devoti expressed his gratitude for the people he’s worked with and the customers he’s served. He said, “I have no regrets and a heart full of love for being able to do what I’ve wanted for all these years. You, the client, is what I did it for and I am forever grateful for the people that have come through our doors … too many to name, but thank you very much for trusting me.”
