Fitz's Root Beer will open a South County location
Fitz’s Root Beer will be part of the upcoming Gathering Square Development at 5228-5240 S. Lindbergh Blvd. in South County.
According to a release, construction will begin on the new building in July, and the 9,000-square-foot restaurant should be open for business by the end of the year.
The original Fitz’s restaurant opened in the Delmar Loop in 1993.
“We’ve been careful about expanding,” said Fitz’s owner and president Michael Alter. “We get a lot of offers.” He said the new location will be in an area the company has been looking at for a while because of its family-friendly aspect that fits in with The Fitz’s aesthetic. “It’s a natural fit.” The construction will be handled by Spiegelglass Construction Co.
The space will have approximately 220 seats inside with an additional 40 on the patio. In addition to a full bar, there will also be a dairy bar specifically for floats and shakes.
