Omen Coffee Co. opens brick-and-mortar location in Midtown St. Louis

Omen Coffee Co., a St. Louis-based coffee roaster that began roasting late last year, opened its first coffee shop in early March at 2647 Washington Ave. in Midtown.

Owner Mark Joe is excited to now have a physical location for customers to enjoy Omen Coffee. “I’m really passionate about bringing people together. I love the conversations that happen over a good cup of coffee,” he said. Omen has only been open for about a week, but those conversations are already happening. “I’m watching perfect strangers moving tables and sitting with strangers,” he shared. “That is the kind of space we’re trying to foster.”

While the customer experience comes first for Joe, the coffee displays his same care and intentionality. It’s roasted in small batches and can be ordered at the shop in a variety of forms: espressos, cappuccinos, lattes, cold brews and more. One of their signature drinks is the orange-espresso tonic, which is made with tonic water, ice, fresh-squeezed orange juice and a double shot of espresso. They also offer tea and hot chocolate. Within the next few weeks, they’ll have food on the menu but are still finalizing the details. Their bags of coffee, both ground and whole bean, are also available for purchase.

At 3,000 square feet, Omen has plenty of space for guests to work, study and talk. Joe designed it as a space where people would want to sit and stay. The shop has a variety of seating options, from community tables to couches, and is decorated with plants and earthy tones on the walls. Joe owns the whole 7,500-square-foot building and envisions eventually opening the second floor and rooftop to guests.

Omen is open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Follow them on Instagram for updates.
