Pie O My Pizza is now open in Fenton

Pie O My Pizza opened on Jan. 13 at 2095 Bentley Plaza on Smizer Station Road in Fenton. Located in a former Imo’s, the restaurant dishes up hand-tossed or St. Louis-style thin crust pizza for carryout.

Pie O My is owned by husband-and-wife team Chris Gurley and JoAnna Kinnison. Gurley was a partner at Fenton Bar & Grill for 15 years before selling his stake in the bar. Gurley said that with the pizza landscape in the surrounding area dominated by chains, he believes it’s time for a more homegrown offering. “We have a niche out there in that we’ve got Domino’s and Pizza Hut and the like, but there’s not really a family-owned pizza joint, so that’s what we’re going for,” he said.

The restaurant offers three different types of crust: hand-tossed, St. Louis thin crust and a gluten-free crust. In terms of cheese, customers can choose mozzarella, Provel or a blend of both. A range of toppings are available if you want to build your own pizza, but Pie O My also offers a few specialty pizzas: a deluxe, chicken Alfredo, Buffalo chicken, meat lovers and a veggie lovers’ pizza.

The menu is rounded out with two salads, garlic bread bites and chicken bites with a choice of dipping sauce – homemade ranch, honey mustard and homemade vinaigrette. “Our thought is to continue developing a couple more appetizers, a couple more sandwiches and hopefully everything ready to go by the beginning of spring,” Gurley said.

The 900-square-foot space is carryout only, but an arrangement with neighboring bar and grill Trueman’s Place gives Pie O My customers an option to stick around and eat their pizzas straight away. “They let our customers sit on their heated patio if they choose, which is a nice feature for us. We have a very good relationship with them,” Gurley said. “We would hope they would buy a beverage from them – or two!” He added that Pie O My will eventually offer delivery service.

Pie O My customers can place orders in advance by phone or order at the counter. The restaurant’s temporary business hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday to Friday (closed Tuesday) and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday.
