Cursed Bikes & Coffee will open Cursed Coffee Co. in Tower Grove South this fall

Cursed Bikes & Coffee, which currently resides in University City, is opening a new location called Cursed Coffee Co. at 4282 Arsenal St. in Tower Grove South this fall, as reported by St. Louis Magazine.

Co-owners Jeff and Erin Gerhardt are launching the new spot in conjunction with taking ownership of A&M Cyclery, a historic bike shop that they reopened Wednesday, May 26. Cursed Coffee Co. and A&M will be next to each other in two separate storefronts but with an opening between the two.

“It’s one of St. Louis’ oldest bike shops. A&M has been such a thing since the ’20s; I don’t feel like I can change it. It has that kind of heritage and neighborhood texture. I can’t just abandon that,” Jeff Gerhardt said. “We really like the idea of preserving the heritage of the bike shop and expanding with the model that we have at Cursed into something that will be even more of a complete coffee shop.”

The menu at the new shop will include much of the menu at the original location, which features primarily tea, coffee with house-roasted beans and a few baked goods, but with more options as the kitchen will be significantly larger. New menu items will likely include waffles, biscuits and gravy, sandwiches and “more healthy options for the cycling crowd.” There will also be some alcohol available, including coffee liqueurs, along with a few beers, wines and cocktails.

“We try to have a community place that the neighborhood embraces, and that’s something we want to do here as well,” he said. “We want to feel approachable while still offering really high-quality products.”

Gerhardt explained that the business took on the moniker “cursed” because the building it’s currently in has had a lot of turnover. “It’s sort of an inside joke with the University City community,” he said.

The 900-square-foot coffee shop, which will include seating for about 20 inside and at least 20 more on a large patio with fire pits and plenty of tables, is projected to open toward the end of October, construction pending.
