First Look: Egg in Midtown
The second location of breakfast and brunch purveyor Egg is set to open later this month at 3100 Locust Ave. in Midtown. The original Egg in Benton Park was featured on Sauce’s Best New Restaurants list in 2016 and reviewed by Sauce in 2017.
The menu features Egg favorites like the cornbread Benedict along with items specific to the new location, including mollettes, toast topped with veggies or chorizo, beans, cheese and an egg, and kafteji, a hearty Tunisian dish of veggies, potatoes, eggs, herbs and spices. Libations include eight taps of Bastard Brothers Brewing Co., including a Jalapeno Hot Chocolate Stout brewed especially for the restaurant.
After extensive rehab, the space seats about 80. The eclectic interior includes up-cycled banquettes, tables and chairs in a variety of colors, exposed brick and the original tin ceiling. Expansive windows on two sides let in plenty of natural light, and there will be additional patio seating outside when the weather cooperates.
The restaurant will be open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday starting later this month. Here’s a look at what Egg has to offer:
