Boardwalk Waffles & Ice Cream will move locations next year

After nearly three years, Boardwalk Waffles & Ice Cream is moving its flagship ice cream shop down the street to a new location at 7376 Manchester Road in Maplewood. The new spot is slated to open Feb. 1, 2020.

As reported by St. Louis Magazine, owner Eric Moore cited small space and lack of seating at the current location at 7326B Manchester Road as reasons for the move.

Fans can still expect the New Jersey-inspired, homemade Belgian waffle ice cream sandwiches and the colorful atmosphere at the new location, this time with booze thrown into the mix. Look out for liquor-infused toppings and spiked syrup as well as wine, beer and adult milkshakes.

In an eco-friendly attempt to reduce the usage of paper, Boardwalk Waffles will start using waffle bowls and waffle cones.

“I’d rather spend an extra few pennies [on waffles] instead of wasting all the paper,” Moore said.

The new location will feature a stage for live music like jazz, blues, funk and swing.

The ice cream shop is in the process of getting a food truck in motion, too. Moore plans to have it running before the end of November, along with a new website and a mobile app.
