Red Stag BurgerHouse will open in Lafayette Square in August

A new restaurant will join the growing list of places to visit in Lafayette Square later this summer. Red Stag BurgerHouse, which is being developed by McNeil & Partners L.P., will open in August at 1801 Park Ave., where Balentine’s and Tripel Brasserie used to be, as reported by St. Louis Magazine.

Developer Ed McNeil said the menu will be a la carte. “It’ll be structured very similar to a high-end steakhouse, except your entree is going to be a burger or a dog instead of a steak,” he explained.

Red Stag will offer USDA prime beef burgers and hot dogs, waygu beef patties, high quality pork options and two veggie options: a black bean burger and a portobello sandwich.

McNeil said the bar program is still in development, but he aims to keep it simple. “We’ll focus on local craft beers and liquors,” he said. Red Stag is also working on a happy hour menu.

Between indoor and outdoor seating, the restaurant is looking to accommodate about 150 diners.

“Lafayette Square is a good area for a restaurant like this,” McNeil said. “Lafayette Square continues to grow and add restaurants and bars as it moves along, so we’re being a part of that.”
