Oaked is now open in Soulard

Soulard has a new dining destination. Oaked opened quietly for business at 1031 Lynch St., on Friday, Feb. 15, in the former home of Fleur de Lilies.

The eatery is co-owner Christopher Schwarz’s first restaurant venture. He partnered with executive chef Stephan Ledbetter, former corporate executive chef for Gamlin Restaurant Group, to put together a menu Schwarz described as “new American cuisine, with updates of some old classics.”

Dishes include like short rib, salmon with succotash in an umami broth and fettuccine with basil, tomato, burrata, balsamic and pine nuts. The menu will change seasonally. “The goal is to change things every four to six weeks,” Schwarz said.

The beverage program leans heavily toward whiskey and wine with a list heavy on Italian, French and California varietals. Beer and cocktails are also available, and Schwarz said the cocktail list will expand soon.

The first floor, dubbed the Deco Lounge, seats 30 to 40 with an additional 40 seats in the main dining room on the second floor. There’s also a patio space with approximately 60 more seats that will open later this spring.

Oaked is open Wednesday through Sunday from 4 p.m. to midnight.
