Harry’s Restaurant & Bar to close after 23 years

The latest restaurant to close up shop in downtown St. Louis is Harry’s Restaurant and Bar. After 23 years, Harry’s will switch off the burners for good on Saturday, Jan. 30, as reported by the Post-Dispatch. Co-owner Tim Pieri cited declining business due to relative new kid on the block, Ballpark Village.

“Downtown right now is dead,” said Pieri, noting the recent shuttering of high-profile establishments like Prime 1000, The Dubliner and mostly Mike Shannon’s. “It’s 100 percent Ballpark Village. It didn’t bring any more people downtown. It just took the people who were already coming here.”

Harry’s will host a two-night farewell celebration on Jan. 29 and 30 with live music. “Come have a good time and say good-bye,” Pieri said.
