How do I purchase a Sauce gift certificate?
Online: You must have already registered for a saucemagazine.com online account and have a valid credit card. See top or bottom of the home page of Saucemagazine.com for this registration area.
By phone: Call 314.772.8004 and ask for the Sauce gift certificate department between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. CST Mon-Fri. You must have a valid credit card. (a shipping and handling charge will apply)
In person: Call first please. Come to 1820 Chouteau, St. Louis, Mo., 63103 between the hours of 9am-5pm CST Mon. to Fri. Note: Again, we suggest that you call ahead (314.772.8004) to be sure that someone will be in the office to process your order when you arrive.

Once you have created a saucemagazine.com user account, you can then purchase the gifts. All you need to do is leave the recipient's email field BLANK. The gift certificates will automatically go to the email address you used when setting up your Sauce online account. Note: If you put an email address into the recipient's email field at the bottom, they WILL get the email too.
- Can I email the gift certificates to the person I want to give these to?
Yes, just put the correct receiver's email address in the correct field when prompted on the order page. See field under receiver's name field. They will then get the email with the .pdf file of the gift certificate in their email box. The purchaser will also get a copy in their email box just in case there is a problem.
- I want to mail the gift certificates to the receiver. How do I do that?
There are a few ways you can do this.
- You can put your email address into the billing section of your order. The gift certificates will then be emailed directly to your email. Then you can print them out on your printer and mail them to the recipient. (No extra charge for this.)
- You can put the receiver's mailing address into the shipping field specified on the order page. Sauce will then mail the documents to the recipient. (A $1.50 S/H charge will be applied per gift certificate order.)
- You can also call Sauce Magazine and order by phone at 314.772.8004. (A $1.50 S/H charge will be applied for each gift certificate order.)
- Do you need to put in a shipping address if you are emailing the gift certificate?
No, just put the correct email address in for the recipient. You will also get an email copy of the gift certificate for your records in case the recipient does not get the email for some reason.
- What if I don't put in a shipping address or a recipient email address?
If you do not specify a shipping address for snail mail delivery and do not enter a recipient email address for email delivery, the documents will automatically be sent via email to the purchaser's Saucemagazine.com online account holder email address. You then can print out the gift certificate from your own printer.
- If I put the receiver's email address in the receiver's email field when ordering. will they get the gift certificate in their email box?
Yes, along with instructions on how to open and print the gift certificates.
A copy of the email will come to the purchaser as well.
- Do I need to click the "shipping address same" box if I'm emailing to myself or the same billing address?
No
- I want to keep the receiver's name field blank. How do I do that?
- You cannot do that; there must be someone's name or some text of some kind in the receiver's field. If you leave it blank, the name of the person who is purchasing the gift certificate will default or show up in the receiver's name field. You could put something like "Merry Christmas!" in the field, and then you can write underneath the name of the recipient.
- I want to keep the sender's name field blank. How do I do that?
- You cannot do that. There must be something in that field or it will default to the purchaser's name. See #7 for similar procedures.
- I want to buy several gift certificates, each for different recipients. How do I do that?
- You cannot do that at this time. You must order each gift certificate separately because the receiver's name is different for each gift certificate.
- If you are purchasing for a group you can purchase that by putting the name of the group into the recipient's field. That group name will show up on the receiver's spot on the gift certificate. You can then purchase up to $200 at a time for the same group name.
- I want ALL $25 gift certificates. How do I do that?
- If you are purchasing more than $50 in gift certificates, on the order page there is a section to click a box to force the system to issue the denomination of your choice in ALL $25 increments. That area is directly above the name field of the billing address.
- My credit card is not working. I know it is a good card, so why won't the system accept it?
- For your safety, we authorize your credit card carefully. You must be using the EXACT billing address that is on your credit card statement. If any of your billing information is different than your credit card statement, the system will not accept your card. You also must fully complete all fields of the billing section or it will not accept your card.
- What is the credit card security code?
- Visa and MasterCard have codes on them. They are located on the back of your card where your printed number appears. It is the last 3 numbers other than your credit card number.
- For American Express, the 4-digit code is on the front of your card above the credit card number.
- ALL credit card purchases require this code.
- I want more than $200 in gift certificates. How do I do that?
- The max you can purchase at one time is $200. You will then have to come back into the system to order the other amount that you require.
- My gift certificate is not printing. How do I print it?
- The email that came with your gift certificate has specific instructions on how to print the gift certificate documents. Please follow these instructions exactly. You must use Acrobat reader to print. The email also tells you how to get the free Acrobat reader.
- Upon printing, be sure that the documents have all the routing numbers on the bottom of the gift certificate or the restaurant will not be able to authorize your gift certificate.
- I lost my gift certificate. How do I get another?
- If you received your gift certificate by email, you have a copy of it there. Just print out another one.
- Be careful! If you lose your physical gift certificate document, someone else could have it and use it. You should contact Sauce Magazine right away if this happens so we can nullify it in our system. We are not responsible for lost or stolen gift certificates. If the lost gift certificate has been used already, there is nothing we can do.
- If your gift certificate was a gift to you, please contact the person who gave you the gift certificate. Only the purchaser can get a reissue. See section 15 b. as well.
- Only a Sauce Magazine-verified original purchaser will receive a reissued gift certificate. No exceptions. You must call to be verified. Call 314.772.8004 to speak with Allyson Mace.
- Is this a gift card?
No, this is a 8.5"x11" formatted regular sheet of paper. It must be printed in order to be used.
- I didn't get an activation email for registering to have a saucemagazine.com online account. What do I do?
- Check your junk bin for the email.
- Try to login again. You can then send the activation email to yourself again.
- Make sure that you have email coming from saucemagazine.com on your email white list or approved receivers list.
