Good Bowl by Plantain Girl will open inside The DogHaus in Soulard

Plantain Girl chef-owner Mandy Estrella has another project in the works. Estrella will lend her Latin-inspired fare to The DogHaus, an upcoming canine-centric bar set to open early next year at 1800 S. 10th St.

Good Bowl by Plantain Girl will feature menu items that play with Estrella’s Latin influences. Unlike Alphateria, her other eatery that opened inside Alpha Brewing Co. earlier this year, dishes will be prepped offsite at a commissary kitchen and brought in for service.

“There will be many of the same flavors, just scaled down,” she said.

Some of the dishes she’s currently working on include The Bounty Hunter with mango, papaya, pineapple, ripe plantain granola and almond cream, and Mister 305, ropa vieja (braised flank steak) with black beans, rice, avocado, pickled red onions and cilantro.

Hours aren’t set yet, but Estrella said Good Bowl will be open for lunch and dinner at the counter-service eatery, emphasizing quick ticket times for folks who have to get back to work in a hurry.
