8 can’t-miss events during St. Louis Craft Beer Week 2018

St. Louis Craft Beer Week
starts this Friday, July 27, and my liver is cowering in anticipation for what I am about to put it through.

Get your drinking pants on and join St. Louis for 10 days of events dedicated to what this city does best: brew and drink beer.

Celebrate landmarks like Exit 6’s Seventh Anniversary Party on Friday, July 27 from 4 p.m. to midnight, or Yoga Buzz’s Fourth Anniversary Yoga and Beer event on from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, July 30 at the Schlafly Tap Room. And don’t forget the grand opening of HopCat, from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday, July 28, featuring 80 Missouri beers on draft.

Head south from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 29 for OSP Tap Haus’ Big Stout Summer Social featuring food and dessert specials that highlight the gnarly Imperial stout lineup. Insider tip: Get a pour of the 2017 North Coast Barrel-Aged Old Rasputin XX. This beauty showcases some of my favorite big beer characteristics – booze, roast and body.

Beer pairs with everything – even cocktails. If you haven’t had the chance to try all-star bartending whiz Matt Longueville’s awesome Hibiscus Wit ice cube, then you must get tickets for STLBarkeep’s Beer Forward Cocktail Party from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 31 at The U.R.B.

Thursday, Aug. 2 is National IPA Day, and I suggest hitting your favorite local brewery for a pint of your favorite hop-forward beverage. If you’re inclined to tick another new beer box, get to Craft Beer Cellar in Clayton from 4 to 7 p.m. for the release of Odell Brewing Co.’s first Milkshake IPA, Cloud Catcher. Expect her to be a juice bomb, and dress accordingly. If you prefer tasting through hop varietal nuances, head to Brew Hub Taproom from 7 to 8:30 p.m. for Pool Hoppin’, showcasing several S.P.L.A.S.H beers (Session Pale Light Amber Singly Hopped).

I recently had the pleasure of watching Logboat Brewing Co.’s Kelsey McClure perform stand up, and if you have not witnessed her sass and general hilariousness, you must get to Giggle and Guzzle at The Improv Shop Friday, Aug. 3 to laugh off all those calories you consumed throughout the week. (That works right?) Chuckles ensue from 8:15 to 9:45 p.m. with host McClure, three Chicagoland comedians and four Logboat beer samples.
