First Look: Lulu's Pingpong Bar on South Grand

Evening revelers on South Grand has a new place to hang. Lulu’s Local Eatery at 3201 S. Grand Ave., debuts its second floor expansion, complete with bar and two pingpong tables today, June 25.

As Sauce reported in May, co-owner Lauren "Lulu" Loomis wanted to add additional seating for the regular lunch and dinner crowd, and she and husband and co-owner Robbie Tucker both had pingpong tables as kids.

The renovated upstairs can be accessed from a separate street entrance or through the restaurant. The drink menu features cocktails like a cilantro cucumber mojito and the gin-based pineapple ginger fizz, along with classics like the Manhattan and Negroni and a tight beer selection. Food from the Lulu’s menu can be ordered from upstairs as well.

The second floor space used to be a private residence, and it still retains that homey vibe with bright colors and warm wood floors, plenty of natural light and eclectic original artwork.

The space can be used for pingpong-ing during Lulu’s regular business hours, but the bar will be open for business from 5 p.m. to midnight Monday through Saturday.
