St. Louis spirits producer opens Kentucky distillery

Luxco, St. Louis-based producer of spirits like Everclear, Pearl Vodka and Rebel Yell Bourbon, has opened a distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky.

Luxco Inc. chairman and CEO Donn Lux said the 18,000-square-foot space, which opened to the public April 12, offers tours, whiskey tastings and shopping.

“People are going to have to experience it for themselves,” he said. Luxco plans to produce 20,000 barrels of whiskey a year at the new facility, which has room for expansion.

The company’s St. Louis plant is a bottling and blending facility only, and Luxco sourced whiskey from other distiller until the opening of Lux Row Distillers. “Now the distillery that the whiskey is coming from is our own facility,” Lux said.

Lux said operations at the St. Louis facility will not change as a result of the new location.
